This week we’re focused on…

Opening up an active conversation about neurodiversity in cybersecurity.

Why?

Because we asked Stuart Seymour (CISO at Virgin Media) what he thinks the industry could do to make cybersecurity roles more accessible to neurodiverse professionals, and he said:

“I think things are improving, but we need to talk about it a lot more. I think it is also up to neurodiverse people to openly talk about it, and that neurodiversity just means different thinking not lesser.”

So we want to provide a platform for those conversations

There’s no point in having a platform if you don’t use it to amplify the voices that everyone needs to hear. And we know that there are many neurodiverse voices among our global community.

So today we want to invite you to share your perspective. We want to hear:

  • Why you think neurodiverse people can help to increase cyber resilience
  • Your experiences of navigating a cybersecurity career as a neurodivergent individual – the good, the bad, and everything in between
  • What you think employers and organisations in the cybersecurity space can do to increase accessibility for neurodiverse people

And if you’re an employer interested in embracing the potential of neurodiversity in your teams, you can share:

  • The questions you struggle with when it comes to creating accessible interview conditions and workplace environments for neurodiverse cybersecurity talent
  • The challenges you’ve faced in integrating inclusive practices within your organisation
  • What you’re working on right now to increase accessibility and strengthen diversity

There’s room for cybersecurity to be more inclusive

With more awareness and understanding, there’s plenty of space for cybersecurity to create productive and accessible working environments for neurodiverse people.

Active, open, engaged conversation is an important step towards that – so let’s do it together.
